Greetings from the highway traveling north:
Mike and I are traveling today to Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival in Cornish, Maine. We had quite an interesting time at the Grey Fox festival in Oak Hill, NY. It is a HUGE festival. It has several stages and tents and loads of campers in everything from motor homes to cots that have a tent covering. There were a lot of very ingenious shower devices that people had come up with to save themselves from waiting in line at the festival showers. It was actually a little overwhelming. This isn’t your typical bluegrass crowd. Because of the vastness of the crowd, we only ran into about 30 folks that we knew out of the thousands that were there. Thankfully, one couple that we saw was Frank & Barbara from CT. Barbara had written a song about us last winter titled, “Preacher Mike.” It is a great song that they’ll be recording with their band Shoregrass in the near future. It was very touching and humbling to have a song written about us. Thanks Barb! It rained torrents on Friday, so that we could slosh around in the mud. It is good to know that we have a perfect record so far in the Northeast circuit of rain every festival. (more…)
